Description
FonTel is a family of modern phone call recorders.
It allows for an automatic and independent registration of phone
calls on various phone lines, analogue as well as ISDN digital
lines. The same software used in all the recorders allows to
connect them in one multiline recording system.
The recorders are able to distinguish between the outgoing and
incoming calls, identify the caller's number and the outgoing
call's number dialed in a touch-tone system, they also support
MSN numbers. All the details of the recorded calls, such as date,
hour, duration and description are stored in a database. Each
recording is saved in a separate compressed sound file (.WAV
files).
Thanks to the option of volume level detection it is possible
to record automatically not only the calls proceeding from regular
telephones, but these performed on radio phones, radio stations
and other devices equipped with an audio output as well.
How does it work?
The recorder consists of two parts: a device that connects phone
lines with a PC and a program that saves the calls to the PC. The
program works independently in the background. It detects the line's
number by itself, as well as the beginning and the end of call,
its direction and the number dialed. It stores all this information
in a database, and saves the recorded contents of call to a compressed
sound file.
Program capabilities
The call recording application allows for a comfortable browsing,
searching and listening to the recorded calls, as well as adding
notes and comments. Oldest recordings can be automatically removed
as a determined period expires, or the disc space is full. This
makes the list of recorded calls easy to print, or save to a text
file, taking into account any of the selection criteria: phone
line number, day, month, phone number.
The excellent sound quality of the calls recorded is provided
by means of full galvanic separation between the phone line and
the PC, as well as the hardware and software filters that correct
the sound timbre and the differences between the speech volume
of both interlocutors.
Thanks to the caller's number references in the phone book and
the call's base, even before the phone is answered, the program
displays a short information about the caller. This information
includes the caller's personal information (if the caller appears
in the phone book), the duration and subject of the last talk
to this number, the number zone (voievodship, according to Poland's
old administrative division, or the name of the GSM network)
and the caller's carrier name. This information is displayed
in one of the screen's bottom corners, even if the program is
hidden and is working in the background.
The access to the whole program or its selected functions can
be protected with a password. There can be different access levels
assigned to different users, depending on their competences and
range of obligations. It is also possible to hide the call recording
software completely so as to make the call recording software
undetectable, the calls archive can be also protected at operating
system level.
The program allows to create any statistical views of the calls
recorded, displaying them according to duration, or the number
of connections. It also offers the possibility to generate an
archive backup copy saving it directly to a CD or DVD (requires
Nero software), as well as it allows to browse the archive copies
smoothly.
Networking
An
embedded web server allows to access the recorded calls remotely
through a web browser in a local network or Internet. This option
does not require any additional software. The only thing that
is necessary to establish a network connection (for example,
through a modem, a local network, or Internet) is the address
of the call recording PC.
Depending on the settings, it is possible to access the list
of calls only, or the sound recordings, too. Remote access to
the program can be protected with a password against unauthorized
users.
The database of calls and the sound files can be located on the
disc or a network resource. This allows for a central
recording of calls on various computers connected to form a
network.
